Stances Privacy Policy

This Policy explains how Stances processes personal information when providing its website, product, Alpha application, and related services. Please read it before using the Services.

1. Information We Process

Depending on the features you use, we may process:

  1. Account information: username, email, password or verification code, invitation code, account status, and sign-in information.
  2. User Content: questions, feedback, application materials, business cards, generated briefs, sharing snapshots, sources, and exported content.
  3. Device and log information: IP address, browser, operating system, device identifier, access time, pages, actions, errors, security, and model-call logs.
  4. Cookies and local data: sign-in state, language preference, recent questions, translation caches, and data needed to maintain features.
  5. Public-source information: names, identities, viewpoints, audio, transcripts, cover images, and sources from podcasts, interviews, and other public materials.

Do not submit unnecessary passwords, identification documents, health information, financial accounts, precise location, trade secrets, or another person’s sensitive personal information.

2. How We Use Information

We process information only where lawful, appropriate, and necessary to:

  1. register users, support sign-in, protect accounts, and provide support;
  2. retrieve sources, call AI models, generate briefs, translate, share, and export;
  3. operate the Services, troubleshoot, and prevent attacks, fraud, and misuse;
  4. understand basic usage and improve the product; and
  5. comply with law, handle complaints, and protect lawful rights.

To improve models and the Services, Stances may, where necessary, use the information in your questions for further model training. Such training does not include personal account information such as your username, email address, password, verification code, or invitation code.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

3.1 Cookies

We may use Cookies set by us or our service providers to recognize sign-in status, maintain sessions, remember necessary choices, and protect accounts and the Services.

3.2 Similar Technologies

We may use browser local storage and in-page events to retain device identifiers, language preferences, recent questions, and translation caches or to understand basic feature usage.

3.3 Clearing Data

You can clear Cookies and local data through browser or product settings. You may need to sign in again, and preferences or local features may stop working. Clearing local data does not automatically delete information stored on our servers.

4. AI Providers, Service Providers, and Disclosures

  1. To provide the Services, we may send information needed for a task to AI model, cloud, database, authentication, email, content-delivery, media, and analytics providers and require appropriate protection through contracts or other measures.
  2. Questions, relevant retrieval material, or transcripts may be sent to the AI provider actually enabled. Personal information written into that content will be transmitted with it.
  3. If a third party independently determines its processing purposes or methods, we will provide legally required notice and obtain separate consent where required.
  4. We will apply legal requirements and appropriate safeguards to transfers or disclosures required by a merger, business transfer, or law.

The system may create a randomly addressed snapshot for a brief. Anyone with the link may be able to view, copy, or forward the related question, Output, and sources without signing in. Remove personal information, sensitive information, and trade secrets before sharing. If a link is disabled, we cannot control copies independently retained by others.

6. Sensitive Information

  1. The ordinary Services are not designed to process sensitive personal information. If a feature genuinely requires it, we will explain the necessity and effects and obtain separate consent as required by law.

7. Retention, Cross-Border Transfers, and Security

  1. We retain information for the shortest period needed for its purpose. Information required by law is retained for the applicable period with unrelated use restricted. When retention ends, we delete or anonymize it.
  2. If overseas AI or cloud services or overseas access results in a cross-border transfer, we will provide legally required information about the recipient, purposes, and data and complete any required separate-consent or other procedure.
  3. We use reasonable measures such as access controls, encryption or de-identification, logging, security review, and incident response, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

You may request access, copying, correction, supplementation, or deletion of personal information; withdraw consent-based processing; restrict or object to processing; and request account deletion, as provided by law. We may perform necessary identity verification. You may also clear local browser records or request that an original sharing link be disabled.

To exercise these rights, email support@stances.ai. We will verify and respond as required by law and explain a refusal. This address is retained only as the minimum channel for privacy-rights requests.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this Policy for legal, functional, or processing changes and provide notice through the website, product, or another reasonable channel. If a change legally requires renewed consent, we will request it separately.

10. Explanation and Interpretation

To the extent permitted by law, Stances may provide necessary explanations of this Policy. An explanation may not unilaterally expand the scope of processing, replace consent required by law, or exclude or limit your statutory rights.
